England-Norway

Hope Powell believes the 23 April friendly against Norway in Shrewsbury will "test the character and endeavour" of her England squad as both nations continue their preparations for UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009™.

White out
Carly Telford, Laura Basset, Rachel Williams, Jodie Handley and Gemma Davidson have all been brought into a squad which includes the five English internationals currently plying their trade in the American WPSL. Arsenal's Faye White is still recovering from a knee injury and misses out, however. Norway are sixth in the FIFA world rankings, four places above England, and Powell will also pit her charges against Iceland and Denmark before the EURO finals in Finland commence in August.

'Quality opposition'
The coach said: "We are now preparing for Norway who are clearly one of the leading nations in Women's football, having reached the semi-final of the 2007 World Cup. It will again provide us with quality opposition that will test the character and endeavour of the squad. We are taking an extremely strong squad to Shrewsbury for the game."
